According to Marcus Thompson II, the Warriors could be on the verge of trading Anthony Randolph to the Knicks for David Lee.

This would be a dreadful move. The Warriors would have to pay Lee more than he’s worth (an escalating salary starting around $13 mil a year), and they’d still be the worst defensive team in the league. They’d have at least $22 million locked up in Lee and Biedrins going forward, a tandem that could form, dollar for dollar the worst defensive frontcourt in the history of the NBA.

With Randolph, the team is set up to compete three years down the line. Trading for Lee makes the Warriors look like they’re trying to win now. But a team of Curry/Ellis/Morrow/Lee/Biedrins will not make the playoffs next season. So what’s the point?

Please, Larry Riley, put the phone down. Don’t ruin the Warriors before new ownership has a chance to fire you.

Dear Mr Cohn, please pass the message to the front office that the majority of GSW fans are totally against. Please! I can’t believe they would trade Randolph for the right to severely overpay a no-defense, stat padding loser like David Lee. Dreadful, absolutely horrible move.

For once I agree with you. We drafted an older guy who was most likely to produce NOW, eventhough he doesn’t have much upside. Now we trade for a NY over paid, over hyped power forward? This team is NOT ready to win right now…we still need a few pieces…let’s wait and develop what we have…

I agree. Let’s build for the future and Lee is not going to be a difference maker. I personally would love to see a front court of Randolph/Wright/Biedrins. Try to get an inside shot on that trio.

It was a blast seeing you on CSNBA tonight, Cohn, don’t know if you’ve ever been on there before but it was my first time seeing you. Obviously you weren’t the bland, vague cheerleader they were hoping for, and the host seemed completely incapable of responding to your points. I don’t remember the name of the host but he seemed completely taken aback by your comment on Lee, and I loved it.

“With Randolph, the team is set up to compete three years down the line.”
For what? The MASH unit the the decade?
From Rusty Simmons in today’s Chron:
“(Brandon) Wright has been able to play only 77 games in his first three
professional seasons because of shoulder injuries. Randolph missed 49
games last season because of injuries to his left ankle.
The Warriors had 15 players miss time because of injury last season,….
    totaling 501 games lost.”
    ………
Now their latest ‘POWER’ forward, Udoh, has hurt his little wrist and can’t
    play in the summer league.
I hope they trade both Randolph and Wright along with their scrawny
6’10″ – 190 pound skeletons, and I don’t care whether they trade for
David Lee, Lee David, Dee Lavid, or Lee Schmee! ANYBODY!
Just get these two out of here!
But not for that egotistical LeBron. LeBron James and the Warriors -
    no, we can’t have that!

It would be a dumb move, Randolph is going to better then David Lee and his fat salary. But its the Warriors.Riley should have more respect and let the new ownership make those decisions.

You guys are nuts. You’re crowning Anthony Randolph based on potential and not anything he’s actually done in this league. Lee may not be the best defender in the world, that’s debatable by the way, but he provides a substantial rebounding upgrade and 20 pts a game. Randolph is a fragile, weak minded player that hasn’t even come close to showing that he can be a consistent force in this league.

Steinmetz was all for it. Made the Warriors a better team he said.

Rich man’s Troy Murphy for Randolph, Azubuike and Turiaf?

W’s went from young, low paid and swift (except Turiaf who isn’t so young and swift) for old and high paid.

    What a deal.
