I’m writing a column about Dorell Wright for tomorrow’s paper.  Before I get to it, here are some interesting remarks Keith Smart made after Saturday practice about Monta Ellis’ growth and how he still needs to grow:

On Monta Ellis being double-teamed: “Once you draw two players the ego has to check down. You draw two players you’ve done a great service to your team. You’ve got two players on you. Move the ball and move it again and you have a wide open shot.”

On Ellis needing to spread around the ball: “When you become the top dog, the top player on a team, what are they going to do tonight? They’re going to trap you. They’re going to make sure you don’t have a big night. Are you going to be a guy now that gets eight assists, that gets your team involved so they feel good because you’ve moved it to them early? That’s what you see some of the good players do. They get themselves going early and they know they’re going to get enough shots, so get your teammates involved. Let them start to feel good about themselves so later in the game when they trap you, you move it. Now Radmanovic has a good feel about shooting it under pressure. Now David Lee is at a sweet spot at the elbow to make his shot. That’s the next step for any young player. This is the first time he has to be The Man. Last year he was one of the men. Now he has to allow other people to grow and he’s doing that sometimes.”
