Keith Smart is out as Warriors coach. Personally, I regret this because Smart is a good guy and he did a good — not great — job with the Warriors. But clearly owner Joe Lacob wants to cut his ties to the Warriors’ past and firing the coach is the No. 1 way to do that. So we wish Smart well and on we go.

“clearly owner Joe Lacob wants to cut his ties to the Warriors’ past” Lowell, I think this statement is inaccurate. If this was true – and boy, do we ever wish it was try – Lacob would have cleaned house starting with Robert Rowell and Larry Riley. It’s good that Riley is apparently on his way out. Sidenote: how does Riley he feel about that? Is he going to enjoy being a lame duck, training his successor? Back to the topic at hand. We all wanted a thorough housecleaning. It never came. I think that was Cohan’s final revenge against the fanbase that booed him in front of his son. That’s why he chose Boston/LA folks over Larry Ellison. Ellison wouldn’t have tolerated what went down this season. He’d probably have some great mastermind in place with a whole new front office and attitude.

    There.

C’mon Lowell, are you REALLY saying that the main reason for the Warriors treading water-26 wins by the break, and only 10 after is a good enough coach?..and half of those in a win streak near the very end of the season when the Warriors had already tanked by a period of about a month.
And why after 20 years would you settle for a “nice guy” who showed NO coaching brilliance? you think mere competence is all the Warriors and fans deserve?
My only suspicion is-Smart is let go..no offer to be offered a job in the org.someplace?…while the rest of Cohans gang of idiots were? I think Lacob has shown much of hiring of his own kind..even kids of his, and clones.

I brought my son to one game this year (they got blown out by Hawks), and sorry to say, it will be our last game for awhile. The place lacks energy on and off the courts. The product stinks! It is about time to clean house.

Our problem isn’t/wasn’t Keith Smart. Everyone agrees that there isn’t a coach on the planet that could have gotten this roster into the playoffs. So who is responsible for the roster and why are they still here? One thing is for certain: it wasn’t Cohan’s fault. He is gone and the results are still the same.

Cut ties but they keep Riley and Rowell ? This team just sucks with many missing pieces and new ownership has not made a great impression. Yea too early to tell but I don’t see a playoff team any time soon.

    Jerry Sloan piques my interest.
He can’t be happy about the way it ended in Utah and he might be just what’s needed around here to completely change the way the Warriors play the game…
He could teach both Ellis & Curry to run the PnR with Lee and perhaps coax some manhood out of Biedrins
