This is Grant again.

It looks like I won the Cohn Zohn t-shirt challenge last night, even though it looks like I got everything wrong.

I called that Gabbert would be available for the 49ers at seven and that they’d pass on him.

I called that Locker would be a top-ten pick.

And I called that four qbs would get drafted in the first round, I just thought Kaepernick would be the fourth, not Ponder.

So, clearly, I’m on a roll.

In the interest of my roll, and in the interest of giving away these yet-to-be-made Cohn Zohn t-shirts, let’s give our predictions for day 2 of the draft. I’ll go first.

The 49ers will not draft a quarterback today.

I’ve been saying for weeks that Harbaugh should be bold and draft Locker at 7. Well, he didn’t do that, but there’s still another way he can be bold. He can wait until rounds four or five to select Alex Smith’s backup (yes I expect Smith to sign an extension any day now, and yes I expect this backup to take Smith’s starting job from him halfway through the season just like Troy Smith did last year).

The teams that drafted quarterbacks high yesterday all have defensive-minded head coaches – Carolina, Tennessee, Jacksonville, Minnesota. They reached for quarterbacks because evaluating that position is not their strong suit. The 49ers don’t have to do that because they have Harbaugh. He allows Baalke to fill the team’s other needs, which will make the 49ers better next season.

So, instead of picking a quarterback at 45, the 49ers will take the best player available, and I’m saying that player will be Maryland WR Torrey Smith. He’s 6-1, has a 41-inch vertical leap, and he runs a 4.37 forty yard dash. He’d be perfect across from Michael Crabtree, who is the 49ers’ possession receiver.

At pick 76, the 49ers will also take the best player on their board, who I’m saying will be another OLB – the blazing fast Dontay Moch. Moch would compete with Haralson for the weak-side spot, while Aldon Smith will play the strong-side.

When the 49ers do draft their quarterback, it won’t be until the fifth round, and that player will be Tyrod Taylor from Virginia Tech. Harbaugh faced him in the Orange Bowl and loved the way he played.

I’m sticking with my prediction that the Raiders will trade up for Kaepernick.

The Bills will draft QB Andy Dalton with the second pick in the second round.

The Bengals will draft Ryan Mallet in the third round.

Who else is going to be bold? We’re talking Cohn Zohn t-shirts here.
