At the informal, players-only, closed-to-the-media 49ers practice today some reporters, including the PD’s own and very good Eric Branch, caught up with Michael Crabtree. Although Smith has been acting as if he’s the Niner quarterback, not to mention head coach and GM, Crabtree still is not sold on Smith as the just plain QB.

Understand, it’s not me who’s not sold on Smith — I’m not, as you know. It’s his wide receiver who is dubious of this guy. You may knock Crabtree — not a team practicer, prima donna, etc. But he said what he said. And you should consider his words.

I’m linking to Eric Branch’s blog which gives some fabulous Crabtree dialog re: the QB without a contract. To read Eric click here.
