Here’s what I don’t understand. Some people are criticzing Tiger Woods because he may not have fired caddie Steve Williams in the right way.

Some people wanted Woods to fire Williams face to face and Williams says it didn’t go down that way.

To which I say who cares? Woods can fire his caddie any way he wants. He can fire him on the phone, in an email, via telegram or face to face. It’s his business.

There is no rule that says a golfer has to fire the caddie face to face. Fired means fired any way it’s communicated. Period.

I agree with you completely. Further, given that there probably were some contractual issues involved, you would want a written record of some sort.

Nobody likes being fired. Why would you expect him to take it quietly?. That would be the easy was for Tiger sure. Williams has himself made a name..so why take Tigers crap ? Good for him.

I take your point and tentatively, but men are supposed to do this face to face. He took the easy way out.

Maybe that is what sex addicts do, on Espn 3 this morning, Skip Baylees mentiond that Tiger alledgely brought a women to his house while his wife was away, the man is a low life and has nothing to do withprofessional manners or integrity.

Or if he had done it through the media so the guys’ wife
heard about it first and called him; that would have
    been fine too.

I agree. He would have been just as “fired” no matter how it was done. I think the caddy is just trying to garner public sympathy so that he doesn’t come off like the jerk he will be when he writes his tell all book. He made a pretty good living off of Tiger Woods and if he is as good as he thinks he is he will make some good money off the next guy.

Let’s be real honest here – none of us even would know who Steve Williams is if he did not work for Tiger Woods. And from what I have been told by a golf pro friend of mine is that Steve Williams major talent was that he knew how to say “you are right Tiger” better than anyone else.

I wouldn’t want to have dinner with either one of them. They both seem like jerks.

Williams made a LOT of money from Tiger. He should thank his lucky stars and STFU!

Tiger made Williams a millionare because the caddy gets 10% of his pro’s winnings. Each win on the PGA tour today pays over a million dollars. How many wins has Tiger had with Williams on his bag? Answer :72
    Enough of the whining already.

It is about class in two senses of the word:
    .
Tiger has long been seen as a petulant rich guy slamming clubs into the fairways when his shots go awry, swearing and cursing if things go south. He is a no-class philanderer who let his family down.
    .
It is also class as in blue-collar. The caddie is blue-collar — might be very, very rich but he is still a glorified servant. To the many, many people in this world who work for a lousy boss, Steve has a lot more gravitas than Tiger.

Wasn’t Williams best man at Tiger’s wedding or something like that. Point being, their relationship was more than business and that’s not how you treat someone who stood by you, which Williams did, and who lost money on all those tournaments when Tiger didn’t play and he didn’t carry.

If we subtract Tiger’s transgressions off of the course, nobody gives a rip about how he fires his caddy.
    .
He’s just been demonized so people automatically take sides against him.
    .
That said, I care nothing about the game of golf or any ‘pro’ who plays it.
