At his Monday presser Jim Harbaugh complained he couldn’t find highlights of the 49ers-Seahawks game on television. I doubt he really cares. It was some kind of rallying thing coaches do — the national media disrespects our team.

He admitted it’ s up to the Niners to correct the situation — if it actually needs correcting — and to make the Niners a national story. And he’s right. The 49ers will get their highlights on national TV if they win a lot of games and become a relevant story nationwide. Harbaugh needs to concentrate on coaching and let TV take care of itself.

Guess he wasn’t watching the NFL Network… Plenty of replays and Ginn Jr. was Deion’s top performer…

Isn’t this a Bill Walshian motivation tactic? and If it is, isn’t he then paying attention to coaching?

Funny, but Comcast had 49ers highlights all afternoon. He must not have cable, being the throwback coach 100%.

Why can’t football teams just play hard, smart football without all of these phony “lack of respect” gimmicks? These are millionaires and celebrities and yet they need more respect. smh

I believe you’re correct Brady, that’s my thinking as well. I think he is using anything and everything he can to build the franchise up again.

The “aura” so to speak. If he can create that feeling that the Niners are on track to their “old” ways, it would become a very desireable location for FA’s again. He wants that mystique back, badly.

They get in what they deserve and they have been irrevelant since Mooch and Garcia left.

I beg to differ about NFL Network. Yesterday they had a segment they repeated all day on their program Around the League that showcased the ‘Best Plays of the Week.’ Lots of marginal touchdowns, nothing of Ginn’s two run backs, despite the fact that they were 59 seconds apart from each other and far more interesting to watch. Harbaugh is right on all counts when it comes to this topic and I’m glad he brought it up.

You might recall the 1981 season.

The game where Joe Montana obliterated the Dallas Cowboys during the regular season and couldn’t even get a casual mention on Monday Night Football from Howard Cosell.

It appears we have a very similar schedule too!

Now I do want to give him credit for the victory, solid
defense, excellent special teams…………but I do
want to hear him whine about anyting, win or loose.

brady, Joe H., I have a vague recollection of Bill Walsh making a similar comment that year. So, yeah, Lowell, it’s from the Walsh bag of tricks.

And while Comcast did show highlights locally, I didn’t see anything on Sunday or Monday Night Football. You’d think that Boomer on ESPN, with two halftimes, would have managed a mention of Ginn’s two returns.

Thanks Joe H. I remember that. Walsh used it to fire up the Team and I believe it helped.
    .
Harbaugh is using this Walsh ism. I hope it works the same.

Neal, you still have fond memories of mooch?

Are you kidding. The most predictable coach in 49ers history? The coach who would be facing 3rd and 15, with 2 minutes left and down by 10 points…and he calls a run up the middle?

No, mooch was not a good coach. Last good coach was Seifert.

Yeah, they should have done a highlight reel of Smith checkdowns. Positively gripping.

Lowell doesn’t dig Harbaugh. Its pretty clear.

Everything was fine until your last sentence Cohn…And then your bitterness toward Harbaugh shined through once again…I find broken records like you quite entertaining though, so at least there’s that!

Maybe Harbuagh’s complaint is part of his coaching. Maybe he is trying to instill an us against them mind set with the team and this is part of that. Whatever the case, this sure beats Nolan trying to figure out what suit to wear on the sidelines each Sunday. That just drove me crazy. I knew we were in trouble the first time I heard he wanted to wear a suit. Harbuagh focus is on the team and you have to respect that.

49er highlights were all over ESPN & NFL network. Harbaugh must of been watching Sunday night HBO, which is stellar. Lame attempt at creating the, “We’re underdogs and get no respect.” Find another tune Jim.

Paul- I don’t think he’s playing the “underdog” card at all, he’s proven to be much smarter than that. It’s more of “see what were doing” thing, the Niners haven’t been on the national radar since the mid 90′s, he wants them relevant again.

He’s a type A personality, those types don’t play the “poor me” card.

I must have watched the same NFL Network segment on Tuesday morning that
Harbaugh and PhD saw on Monday, except that the Pats and Raiders highlights were
included, but we weren’t (and Ginn should have been). I really must learn not to
storm downstairs to yell at my husband every time these easterners stiff us.
Tell Harbaugh that a nice two-hour workout will do wonders to sooth his spirits
every time this happens again – and it will.
