Readers of this blog know I flinch when a famous athlete or coach refers to himself in the third person. Hue Jackson is a big third-person kind of guy. Once, during Tuesday’s intro presser for Carson Palmer, Jackson called himself “Hue Jackson.”

I am not here to criticize Jackson. I believe he has a major ego, the kind that leads to referring to himself in the third person. And I also know the Raiders need someone with the biggest ego possible. Jackson is following Al Davis, for heavens sake. He’d better think a lot of himself. Tom Cable would have felt crushed following a legend like Al.

Jackson also has complete belief in himself — his ability to coach and to make a team. So far, his self-belief is entirely deserved. So, got get em, Hue Jackson.
