The Lake Course sounds so benign: no water, only 2 fairway bunkers (USGA added 1 on 17 for the Open) and relatively short for an Open course. But, the heavy air (right off of the Pacific Ocean), tight fairways and tiny, subtle greens make the course a bear. The Olympic bar denizens will bet any non-pro, regardless of handicap, that on his/her first round that they will not break 100.

So many of the modern major courses are set to challenge the longest hitters. This course will force you to be completely accurate. So that tends to favor a different breed of golfer than what you normally see with the trophy. It'll be a surprise champion this year and I think that's great personally. So tired of the media riding Tiger and his supposed nemesis player co-horts every major, and minor for that matter, tournament.

If they want to rev up the course..I would give the edge to the World Champ pee wee golfer. He would have a big edge having putted into rotating windmills, dragons mouths, and of course, volcano's. I don't know why pee wee golf isn't respected.
