Here is the opening to my column about Reggie McKenzie, a companion piece to the transcript of our interview I posted earlier.

ALAMEDA – I didn’t know where I was.

That’s the first thing you should understand. I never had been in this part of Raiders headquarters. Frankly, I hadn’t been in many parts. But the Raiders had set up an interview with new general manager Reggie McKenzie, who had been director of player personnel with the Packers. And here I was in a strange office in a strange wing of the building and no one was watching me or guarding me.

I was waiting peacefully, blissfully.

I thought you might like this…I was reading historical last words..from Persian and Chinese greats to war heroes and Actors…and then this one, “Be inspired”..rapper heavy D. Only Lowell,it wasn’t spoken..that was his last tweet before he died.

I must say Lowell, as a Raider fan myself, that I am excited and happy they are letting you in (finally). I will put it like this – When it comes to sports, I HATE IT when a team, or their fans, complain of a tough schedule, injuries, etc. A true champion takes on all comers, and wins regardless of the obstacles that every team faces. With my beloved Raiders, it’s about time they let the likes of you, TK, Ralph (if he resurfaces), etc. in the building to ask around, and face the truth. The questions that you all are likely to demand answers to won’t be so difficult to face if they simply address their issues and begin to win on the field. A new era indeed, and I am happy to see it.

One more off topic..you ‘ve read me bash the CSU system. And I wasn’t complimentary about SJ State hiring..lets stick with “Mo” who was not much-if at all a man- who cared about the community at his previous job at Eastbay State .
And what did he do now? He hired the disgraced AD of Boise state-just fired by Boise..to head SJ.
Mo,like most of the CSU big wigs..looks out for no.1. A travesty.

Very well done by both of you…

I remember when you did a similiar piece on Coach Singletary…

I hope things turn out better for Reggie…

Lowell, as always i enjoyed your column, especially the last statement/sentence, it says a lot. Hope this regime remains as open as they seem and really, i wish the 49ers would return to that type of open dialogue. But you know with their current structure that they will not. Will enjoy watching the Raiders in a way that i haven’t for years.

Great Column, Lowell and glad to see more Raiders columns from you. Also it’s great that the PR staff is finally entering the 21st century at the Raiders.
