Here is the opening to my Monday column I wrote after attending the A’s 2-0 loss to the Bronx Bombers on Sunday. In the column I suggest the A’s are onto something unique and fascinating.
OAKLAND — The exciting moment for the A’s on Sunday came in the bottom of the seventh with the A’s trailing the Yankees 2-0. They had runners on first and third with one out — Coco Crisp had led off with a single and dramatically stole second and third — and now Kila Ka’aihue was up.
Surely, Ka’aihue, an alleged power hitter, could do real damage. And he did just that — real damage. He struck out swinging.
