I interviewed new Warriors general manager Bob Myers this afternoon. I found him delightful. Here is the opening to my column about him:

Last Saturday, Bob Myers went to San Quentin to play hoops with the inmates. When word spread he’s the general manager of the Warriors, the inmates started telling him how to fix the team. One guy yelled, “What’s the plan?”

“The plan is to stop losing,” Myers shot back.

The inmates, a hard crowd, liked that. If a guy goes over big in San Quentin, he has a chance of impressing the NBA.

How would you compare Myers to Sabean? Or Baalke? Or Beane :)? Who’s the best GM in the bay?

lameduck, it’s too early for this comparison. Myers and Reggie McKenzie have not had a regular season. They need time. Sabean is the best GM currently. He won one World Series and got the Giants into another.

There are approximately 5000 inmates currently incarcerated at San Quentin.
There’s got to be a SF in there somewhere.
My man Myers…tappin’ the untapped resources!

So…the W’s are going to try to get better…they’re not going to draft for need but rather to accumulate assets…

The Latvian Stiff is still in the house ’til further notice…David Lee is a great guy who couldn’t defend my dead granny…

and they just committed $600 Million to a new arena…

I’m just getting goosebumps at the thought of this iconic franchise in our midst!
