Bonds came to AT&T Park on Sunday as part of the 2002 team that lost the World Series to the Angels in seven games. Most of the players attended the media half-hour in a big white tent.

With about 10 minutes left in the session, Bonds showed up. He looks younger now than when he played. He’s dropped weight and his heavy, mechanical-looking face has been replaced by a fresh, normal, handsome face.

He allowed the media to come at him, stood there patiently while we shoved microphones near his mouth.

This was different from the hundreds of times reporters approached him as a player and he gave the sour silent look like a man suffering stomach pain.
