It is being reported the Giants got Hunter Pence from the Phillies. If you have any more info on this deal — if it’s really a deal — please share with the class. The Giants absolutely need a hitter like Pence because they do not hit enough, have too many outs in their batting order, can’t protect Buster Posey. The Dodgers are not messing around and the Giants must keep pace. I like this trade, if it’s for real. I said it on Comcast yesterday and I say it again today.

Pence got red hot for Phillie last year in a last gasp trade. Remember how he was hitting game winners for the Phil’s,while Beltran nursed every injury for as long as he could?..The Giants are counting on getting some of that..
Its like an arms race between the Giants experience and the Dodgers money.

BTW Lowell,Kruger said on air-outed him really- that Gary Radnich owns part of the Giants. Some stock or something. Isn’t that against all sportscasting integrity?..Or is it common?
    I learn everyday.

I said a few minutes ago they should stand pat but, assuming they don’t give away too much, this would be a fantastic acquisition. I can’t wait to see a Cabrera/Pence/Posey/Sandoval order. Not only does that provide some really good hitting, but it allows players like Pagan, Blanco, Crawford, Belt, etc., to concentrate on being complementary players rather than trying to be stars.

How can any fan not like it. The guy is better than anything the Giants have now, save for Melchy. It gives us serious pop in the middle of the order, especially when Pablo returns. Defense might be a challenge. Not sure what to do with Blanco sucking so thoroughly of late at the plate. Perhaps Sherholtz needs to stay in the lineup. But as of now, if Blanco sits, we have no center fielder nor lead off hitter. I wonder if this is really the end of the deals for today.

As of right now, this deal is NOT confirmed.

With the Hunter Pence Trade, could the Giants ownership group be looking to make the payroll go up next year to resign melky Cabrera?

    Stan, Krueger was being facetious.

As for Pence, the Giants need a lot more than a good, not great, outfielder. Good luck to him in right field at AT&T. Pardon my sarcasm, but will Pence’s big contract be the built in excuse for not signing Melky to a multiyear deal? I still think the Diamondbacks will win the division – they’re getting healthy and I remember the run they made last year at this time with essentially the same team. Kevin Towers may be the Diamondbacks best acquisition of all. Speaking of sharp GMs, how is it that the As have all these exciting and productive young players while the Giants highly touted prospects rarely turn out to be anything more than components in trades for mediocre veterans?

I like that his last name starts with a P.

    Pence
    Posey
    Pagan
    Pablo

Will Pence do the outfield jump?

    P’s out… P’s be with you…

Phillies do a salary dump…Pence comes here…Victorino to the Dodgers…both for next to nothing…

    Dodgers after Ryan Dempster…

If Pablo stops eating and Angel stops punching walls it’s gonna be a fun stretch run on the left coast…

I dunno Steve,Radnich just ignored it Like when Marty Lurie wanted to come on over for dinner at Raddys..and he never got an answer-so, no answer in his case usually means he’s cornered!

Just heard that Pence bought and booked his own plane ticket in an attempt to get here for tonight’s game. Even if his agent made the arrangements, that’s a really good sign! Also liked Sabean’s comments during his interview with Tolbert and Byrnes.

Stan – Raddy ignored it because, as always, he was too busy talking over Krueger so he probably didn’t hear the comment.
