95.7 was kind enough to send me this news release about 49ers coverage which seems promising. Any station that has Maiocco and Jeff Garcia has something to offer. I do not believe any 49ers player or Baalke will say anything very interesting because of how the team keeps things so private. I hope I’m wrong. I noticed in the release it says Harbaugh will appear on the station on a rotating basis. Does that mean he will be rotating as he speaks?
Here is the press release. I did not link to it, because it contains certain private phone numbers. I excerpted the relevant parts.

Sounds like some exciting coverage, though I’m bummed I’m getting Matt Millen on the commute to work. That guy tanked the Lions, so it’s hard to take his “analysis” seriously. I’d rather have Baalke, a more accomplished GM, but then I don’t expect 95.7 to schedule their coverage around me. Good for you guys though!

Hopefully they’ll do a better job than the morning wimps at KNBR whom embarrass themselves every time they attempt to interview Harbaugh or one of the coordinators.

Millen did tell an interesting story of interviewing JaMarcus Russell prior to the draft…Millen said that to most questions he gave one word answers..and kept looking at his watch like he had something else to do. Millen said that convinced him to avoid drafting Russell…as he tells it.
I like how THEGAME keeps grinding at KNBR..its like guerrilla radio. They are the North Vietnamese vs the Giant imperialist army full of themselves..and a year later starting to get shaky legs as THEGAME continues to chip away…

I like it, especially MM with Townsend & Steinmetz and anybody with Greg Papa. Those guys are not afraid to ask and demand answers to tough questions and offer opinions that may not be popular with the teams they cover. Except for Marty Lurie and a solo Larry Krueger, KNBR has become so vanilla as to be offensive to the sensibilities of its listeners (in my case former listener). Here’s hoping The Game lives up to the preseason pub.

I’m curious ratings wise how 95.7 is doing against KNBR? I grew up with KNBR, but I have to say when I want sports talk now I tune it to 95.7.

Only Mr. T has the chops to go toe-to-toe with Harbaugh. Nobody else is a former pro to whom Harbaugh has to look up when he speaks. It’s a man thing.

..And really “Mr T” ? uh,didn’t they know somebody else has a near patent on that name?…plenty of others like “Terrible Tom”..or “Uncle Tom”..maybe “The Tom-a-toe Show”.? all better then ripping off a 70′s legend.

This is good marketing by this station.
Because 95.7 is the A’s station, and because the A’s are doing so well, it seems
that every time I tune in, if the A’s aren’t playing, the hosts are talking A’s, or
at least baseball. I don’t care at all about the A’s, so I rarely tune these
guys in anymore.
I’ve made a mental note of who I want to hear from this press release.
Thanks for passing it on.

I made the switch to 95.7 last summer before they officially launched as “The Game” and really haven’t looked back. Its crazy but the FM feed just sounds so much better, just sucks with the lack of broadcast range (thankfully they have the iphone app). If they were to grab the raiders broadcasts (even though I’m no raiders fan) that would be a huge move to pull even with KNBR.
And Millen was, and is, still considered a brilliant football mind. Always appreciate his opinion. Before he left for Detroit many were saying he was to be the next Madden of broadcasting, the guy was respected by everyone. I don’t think we can blame him too much for the issues in Detroit, I mean, its Detroit….
And I wouldn’t really say that Tolbert ripped off Mr. T, an 80s icon (not 70s). Haven’t heard him once say “i pity the fooo” or “paiiin”.

@MJ – Regardless of Millen’s broadcasting ability (different skill-set), he is solely responsible as GM for the issues in Detroit during his tenure. Baalke is responsible for hiring Harbaugh and drafting Aldon Smith. I’m not saying Baalke is perfect, but Millen’s final season with the Lions, after 7 years of “building” the franchise, ended with an 0-16 season record. In the immortal words of Charles Barkley, he was terrrrrible.

And,I somehow skipped mentioning that Jason Barret PD of THEGAME, has an all white lineup. That’s right. Between both sports radio stations, they have hired just one person of color. And Rod Brooks barely fits that description.
Without a doubt sports media is still among the biggest strongholds for the good old boys bigotry. They hire “just like us” the same way gun nuts cling to their weaponry after another massacre at the mall. No politician stands up to them, and no media watchdog group takes on the sports world.
