Bruce Bochy altered his batting order for Game 4 which begins in a scant three hours. He moved Buster Posey to No. 3 and dropped slumping Hunter Pence to 6. Managers usually bat their best all around hitter third. Willie Mays mostly batted third, for example. So here is today’s order:
Pagan
Scuataro
Posey
Sandoval
Hector Sanchez
Pence
Blanco
Crawford
Lincecum
Posey will play first base, which means Brandon Belt is out of the starting lineup because, for reasons I don’t understand, Lincecum pitches only to Sanchez. This move weakens the Giants defense because Posey is not a real first baseman. It also may weaken the offense.

Lincecum made his sixth straight start with a catcher other than Buster Posey, but Bochy was forceful when asked about the perception that Posey won’t catch Lincecum anymore.
“That is completely false,” he said. “Completely false. Timmy doesn’t care who he throws to. It’s my call when I give Buster a break.”

I know that if its a St Louis-Detroit world series? I wont even bother..maybe check in for the 8th or 9th.
And too many have said Lincecum and Posey arent on the same page of life. Happens.

Hunter Pence, more speeches than rbi is a bad thing. Don’t really see the value in this guy, decent rbi guy during the regular season but a .220 hitter as a Giant
.165 avg during the playoffs. Schierholtz was really more capable at the plate and a MUCH better fielder. Another senseless move by the Giant’s GM. If a right handed bat was the need, he didn’t look very hard. Tommy Joseph is a big time hitting prospect and Nate wasn’t bad either. This one may go down as one of the worst trades in Giants History

I usually don’t chime in when these type of mellowdramas are being discussed…BUT…if I had to hazard a guess as to why Posey doesn’t catch Timmy anymore, it’s probably because Timmy doesn’t listen.
.
I’m reminded of the immortal words of the one and only Crash Davis when he said, “You just got lesson number one. Don’t think; it can only hurt the ball club.”

I’ll take Sanchez’s bat in the lineup any day… Posey get’s fresh legs which could help his hitting as well. I’m excited about tonight!

Well, the richest club in baseball has just about fallen. But,so have the lowest spending clubs in baseball. So much for Moneyball..it hasn’t even made it as far as the World Series in 12-15 years its been invoked.
So,the lesson here is..I don’t know..what is the lesson Lowell?

Wake me when they alter the roster and find some guys who can hit in the clutch.

Sure could of used Melky, he carried us in hitting slumps like this! The play at the plate, Posey would of made that catch. That costs us a run.
