I have access to the Fox broadcast of today’s game and some announcer interviewed the owner of Taco Bell right during play and asked among other insipid things if he likes his tacos with hot or mild sauce. He did this in the middle of play in the freaking World Series. One writer near me just said, “That’s why Fox is a joke.”

They really make you miss Curt Gowdy and Joe Garagiola. And when the local announcers could do a few innings of the game on national TV. We didn’t improve in the sportscasting world.

My favorite part of the interview was when the interviewer assured the audience, “We don’t want this to seem like a commercial.” Too late.

LC, Bochy has done well with everything in this series BUT using HSanchez as DH. That was absolutely a terrible choice with veterans Nady and Theriot on the bench. Terrible.

I hate the coverage of the world series, its so bad is should be an embarrassment to the MLB. McCarver and Buck sound like they are announcing a funeral every year. Unless of course the yankees are in the series then they act like they care.

That’s ONE of the reasons why Fox is a joke.
I guess their sports division has been taking notes from their faux news division.

I wrote it before and I’ll write it again: I listen to our guys and deal with the 7-9 second delay. Buck and McCarver are pukeworthy. At least Fox’s visual coverage is excellent; that new super slo-mo camera is amazing.

Disclaimer: I used to be a TV sound mixer and cameraman.

Actually, I think the camera work is a B, at best. Way too many tight shots.
I also think that those East Coast producers thought that a Detroit/SF series wouldn’t be interesting so they loaded up on feature pieces, like the Taco Bell thing and the dugout interviews while the inning is on. This isn’t just my opinion but a couple of other professional TV people as well.
And McCarver should stop telling stories while the action is on.
No more carping from me. I want the Giants to finish them off tonight.
On another topic, compare the 2010 Game One starters and this year’s and you will find an interesting fact: Posey is the only common player. How can Sabean not be exec of the year with a record like that?
    Amazing.

I really wish that you and your peers would excoriate Fox for the lameness and stupidity that is infecting our world of sports.

Fox hires imbeciles who ask stupid questions, waste time, puff pieces on losers, and other time wasting exercises.

Enough! Call them out for their failures and see if they even notice.
