Mrs. Cohn Zohn and I are going to see Skyfall early this afternoon — the Bond movie. She isn’t into Bond but I always have been. We would invite Grant but he’ll be in Santa Clara chez Niners. Mrs. Cohn Zohn, who is in charge of our movie viewing, wanted to see Hitchcock but it isn’t in the East Bay yet. We try to see a movie every Friday afternoon and mostly we do. It’s a very nice date.

My boys went yesterday and really liked it (Skyfall).

I saw Lincoln and really liked it for the most part.

Both movies are 2 1/2 hours so get the popcorn ready.

Ah,remember my brilliant observation that all Bond movies rely on detonator countdowns? Always some evil device with huge red LED’s,like look at me-I’m a bomb.
Well,I’m watching R.Moore in some 80′s Bond movie and read the write up on the cable..”The spy Bond must save Nato from a nuclear attack!”..well, I notice that in all Bond movies, the last thing he does is spy. He never takes notes, never records or makes video’s..doesn’t use a laptop, doesn’t call for backup-unless she’s a beauty. Just sleeps with woman and does a lot of running with explosions. No spying.

I will be very interested to see your opinion of the film. To me it was both the end and a beginning, neatly bringing together the new, more gritty Bond character played by Daniel Craig, and the old Bond look and feel of Sean Connery in the sets and background. I hope you enjoyed it as much as both I and my son did. We look forward to many more Bond films in the future.

I haven’t been to a movie since I came back from Japan. Over there, everyone is orderly, there are no cellphones going off and no fear some nutbag might bring a gun. Theaters around here are small rooms, and generally dirty. Lots of fat people with no manners.
