No surprise the Raiders suspended Rolando McClain. He may never play for them again. And I don’t feel sorry for him. He seems like a questionable guy. Still, this whole thing is no good for the Raiders and gives the impression, along with how badly they play, that this is a team in chaos.

Sad but true. Raider fans are loyal. But this season is painful. Wait ’till next year…

It’s.About.Time…..Every Raider fan you can still find will tell you that SloLando was a bust, not a “3/4 guy” or a guy that “just wants to win” like a lot of the nonsense I read today. Some of us fans will admit we were thrilled when he was drafted by the Raiders. ALL of us that have watched him lollygag, leave his lanes and not touch the tailback, fail in pass coverage, get arrested and act like a damn idiot, etc could not be happier right now. “Culture change” suddenly has a ring of truth to it to those of us that love the team (assuming he doesnt magically return to the field after his “suspension”). Next up? Seymour? Kelly? Bye Bye….

11 games into the Mac/Allen regime is not enough time to make that determination. There’s a lot that needs to be done to that roster and, more importantly, a lot needs to be done to change the culture and mindset there. Let’s check back in a year and see where things stand.

I don’t know if chaos is the right word, that implies that it’s out of control. I think McKenzie and Allen have control, they just don’t have players.

The defense is not built to compete right now.

They need help in the form of some new faces, especially at LB and DB.

I thought, and a number of Raider fans commented here on the Zohn, that
Al had finally gotten his first round pick right in 2010 in picking McClain
with the 8th overall pick. Remember, he was going to be the anti-JaMarcus.
Mock drafts typically had him going a few picks later, but he was both a Lambert
Award and a Dick Butkus Award winner like Patrick Willis, who was picked 3 years
earlier – and that worked out pretty well.

Nick Saban said at the time:
“Some guys understand their position, but I would venture to guess Ro knows
what every player is supposed to do on every play on defense………..”

“…….Rolando McClain has been as great an ambassador to Alabama probably
as anyone ever has……not only in terms of being a great football player, probably
the best defensive player in the country…….but he always did things right.”

Yet here, the guy’s behavior off the field and play on the field goes beyond just
not caring but is indicative of extreme stupidity. How proud his parents must be.

To paraphrase you earlier this season Lowell, the Raiders have a very difficult task ahead of them to join the 21st century…the question is whether Reggie effectively communicated the magnitude of the task to Mark Davis.

Based on Mark’s comments a few weeks ago, the answer appears to be no…

If he really sold this team to Mark as a playoff contender then Reggie is either delusional or incompetent…the fact that he retained McClain after the shooting incident suggests that Reggie is both…

I know that a couple of weeks ago I posted that I thought the team had no respect for Allen ..not as a person..just as a leader to help them improve. It seems like the players pass the blame instead.
He’s more of a Wally Peepers to them.
