I was talking to Bruce Bochy this morning. At one point he said, “My dad he had a still. I ever tell you that?”

I said I didn’t know about the still.

“Yeah,” Bochy said, “he grew up in West Virginia. His father was a coal miner, his mother had a still in the house. She’d make moonshine. He said he remembers the Feds coming in and knocking it down. They would leave and in a half hour she’d have it up and running again. That was survival back then.”

That’s today’s factoid on the manager of the world champs.

no wonder Boche offered Brandon Belt a beer after he told him he made the team and Belt broke down in tears a few years back….a little bit of moonshine cures all……lol.

I remember my father made beer in the 60′s. My older brothers were sneaking into the vat room. My father then switched to making root beer. Most delicious root beer I ever drank.

My grandma made wine in the cellar. We kids didn’t realize it, but she’d start sampling it in the late morning. By lunchtime she was singing. After that she’d turn mean and vicious. Finally she’d fall asleep.

    We preferred the singing grandma.
