It’s almost 10 in the morning over here at the Cohn Zohn. I’m at my desk starting to write my Thursday column — it’s on the Raiders. And I’m listening to Mose Allison. Do you know him, like him? I do. I usually write to music and this foggy morning up here in the Oakland hills I need his easy piano and down-home, sly voice.
What is the Lowell mind reading these days?
Chaim Potok’s “The Promise.” I never have read him before but I love this book. It’s a funny thing. I’m reading writers I never was taught at Lafayette College or Stanford and they have great meaning for me. Among them — Elmore Leonard, P.G. Wodehouse and now Potok.
Have a great day.
