Football season ended for me a while back and I’m getting back into life. I have today off and Mrs. Cohn Zohn and I drove to Point Richmond, had lunch at Little Louie’s and then she shopped a while and I walked around town and sat down and read “The Gift of Asher Lev,” by Chaim Potok. I am reading Chaim Potok these days. I love Point Richmond. Everything is two stories or fewer and there’s no traffic and things are slow and pretty and it’s a place to go if you’re looking to get back into life.

Please don’t publicize Point Richmond too much. We feel it’s our little secret. We don’t need thousands of sports fans raging up and down the street shouting “Go Niners”.

My mother, aunt, cousin, and I spent part of the first grade for my cousin and I living in next door hotel rooms in Point Richmond. It was a two story town then (1938) too. My reading ability was somewhat undeveloped at the time, but I remember that it was raining a lot of the time.

That sounds like a relaxing day Lowell.

This Saturday at the Fish Hatchery at Lake Sonoma they are holding “Russian River Steelhead Days”. 10:00 to 4:00. If it is anything like last year it should be great for kids and adults alike. Food Vendors, Live music, local breweries and winery vendors, lots of exibits, Kids fishing ponds, fish prints, archery range, live animal exibits, watch the steelhead trout run up the ladder, etc etc.

Will Denver have gotten their money’s worth if the Manning contract doesn’t bring them a Superbowl win?

Kozimor claims the Warriors arena plans are being hung up by “Environmentalists with their hands out, wanting to be paid off”..wow,what a dufus to host a show. He has no comprehension of SF bay’s history. Of the MANY toxic minerals washed out of the Gold country to the industrial waste once flushed straight into the bay. The fact is the Warriors are for the most part are essentially filling the bay in a non flat tidal area. Its bad enough SOME have recently filled in the bay..while paying for other wetlands to be recovered. The Warriors arena is an advertisement to turning back the clock and bay fill. In our faces.
Its just amazing the lies and ignorance in local sports media.
