Mike Florio writes Tomsula probably out, Baalke probably in. Here’s the link:
49ers are expected to keep Baalke, dump Tomsula
Does Jed York understand how hard it’s going to be for us sportswriters to gin up interest in this cruddy team next year? This year was easy because there was change but next year???….same old….same old….that’s gonna be BOOOOORING !!!
One point, Lowell: anyone who’s paid attention knows that Baalke is the main problem here. 1) the roster is his, and the number of “quality” picks (Rounds 1-4) that he’s missed on in breathtaking; how anyone who tanked an entire draft in 2012 and then doubled-down on that failure with multiple busts the following year still has a job in the NFL is a tribute to York idiocy. 2) Baalke one skill is clearly the art of political in-fighting, and whenever anyone falls in that building, the handle of the knife points directly at faux-Clint. 3) No talented coach will ever work for this hack, not with the drafting record he brings with the bargain, so the 49ers are doomed to attract 2nd-rate talent.
I realize Baalke only talks once a year, but when you do get your next shot at him, please ask about past drafts (Aldon Smith over JJ Watt at #8 in 2011; all of 2012; Tank Carradine, Vance MacDonald, Corey Lemonier, Marcus Lattimore as “prospects” in 2013…and all those godawful offensive lineman and wide receiver he keeps “identifying” as talented.
He should be back at South Dakota State, “coaching up” those dbs….
I got to say – he was awfully entertaining this year. His expressions on field were priceless and his press conferences were hilarious. I’m going miss him and don’t blame him for taking the job.
Please keep us updated as to The Butcher’s future relocation. I’ve enjoyed his rump roast many times this season.
I predicted Tomsula would be back. Maybe I was just hopeful for the comic relief.
Cohn Zone best scenario:
Chip Kelly hired and Kaep stays
I thought they might give him another season but with all those empty seats Jed needs to do something. He can’t risk doing nothing and hope for a better result next year. He would start losing sponsors.
When you can’t sell reality you need to start selling hope.
Nothing will be fixed until a competant head of football operations and gm are put in place. Until then it will be a repeat of the post-Marriucci years.
Firing Tomsula is taking the earrings off the pig–Baalke must go!!!
Jed must be so proud.
A truly godawful team even wins at the wrong time!
Actually Aldon Smith was the number 7 pick and JJ Watt was number 11. Aldon is what we could classify as a double dipper – bad pick for the team in the long run (mistake number one) and dumped him without getting any compensation (mistake number two). You can bank on Baalke to show his skills on one end of the transaction or the other.
Just wanted to thank Grant for breaking the story many media types seem to be repeating or citing without attribution.
Don’t recall any published or broadcast reports detailing Tomsula’s methods until Grant’s report came out earlier this week. It’s not unreasonable to suppose info revealed in Grant’s report was too damning/uncomfortable for Tomsula’s employers to ignore.
“York will meet the media Monday morning at Levi’s Stadium…”
If you and Junior don’t fry this toad, I’ll never forgive you… just sayin’…
The “Rat” is gone.
