Not on this team my friend…
Jed has it in his head he needs to stay the course…
Mostly because he’ll never admit to his own incompetence…he loves the way Baalke sucks up to him and tells him what a great football man he is….and because Denise will take it out of his allowance if he puts one more dead money coach on the payroll…he got away with “Jimmy T” that great teacher…he won’t get away with paying Chip to watch the leaves change in New Hampshire…
And Colin…between the kneeling and the fraudulent play…there’s not another team in the league that’ll look at him…when even Steven A. Smith calls you out as a fraud for not voting…when even the fro doesn’t buy any street cred…there’s no place to go other than Jed’s world because as quarterbacks go, he’s got everything Jed and Denise want…he works cheap…
LC are you a fan of “The End of the Tether”? What’s the best short Conrad?

If he opts out of his contract this year..why would the 49ers have to pay him 14 million?
They don’t. Thats wrong. His restructured contract guaranteed him the rest of his 2016 salary but nothing beyond that.
Please help me here and I admit I’m stupid about numbers. But if Kap does NOT opt out, do the 9ers owe him his 2017 salary? I mean if they cut him.
I believe the 49ers got rid of the guarantee language in the original contract in return for Kap to be able to opt out. So if Kap thinks he can get more than his contract would pay he can opt out and go chase a new contract. If he doesn’t opt out than the 49ers can cut him, which means they are not obligated to pay him anything. They can also agree to a new contract under either scenario.
They would have to cut him before 4/1/17, or if he opts out. If they don’t and he doesn’t then yes, his 14.5 million base salary is guaranteed.
Also of note per the 2016 Restructure:
*Cannot be franchise tagged by SF in 2017
*$1M bonus for playing 34.4% of SF snaps in 2016
Seems he will hit that 34.4% number, interesting that the amount said he would donate is the exact same as that roster bonus…must be the cynic in me.
Also, Kaeps cap hit for 2017, if on the roster is ~19 million however the dead money, which I believe is what the team is hit with if they cut him before 4/1, is ~4 million. The 49ers basically save 15 million against the 2017 cap by him not being on the team at the start of the new league year.
Does Cuba have an American football league?
In all seriousness, I still think he’s got some good football left in him. I don’t know about New York, but if anyone could ever use a change of scenery, it’s him.
When I went to college in upstate NY in the 1950s, we would drive to Coney Island, about 120 miles one way, just to get a Nathan’s hot dog. No question, Kap is coming out on top.
I drove to Nathan’s too from Easton, Pa (Lafayette College), although Nathan’s was only 20 minutes from my Brooklyn apartment where I grew up
Kind of silly to make the holy grail out of a hot dog. New York chauvinism never dies. Bagels nonpareille, too, ad nauseam.
He is only guaranteed his contract through this year. The 49ers can cut him at any point after the season and they are done (with him, not the cap hit). He controls nothing, other than if he wants to be a free agent and SF doesn’t.
Perhaps at some point I will be proven wrong. And if so I will admit it. Bottom line, in my opinion, is that he will never, ever, be an NFL Championship winning caliber QB. He could be just good enough for you to lose close games or win close games, but in the NFL, at some point, you have to have a QB who can simply win a game for you, by sheer force of will. Anything short of that won’t win you championships. And if the franchise ownership views themselves as a organization that accepts nothing less then their first move needs to be parting ways with any number of player, coaching and front office personnel. Of which this QB, whom is costing them far too much money is exhibit 1A, 1B at worst.
The number of frauds on this team doesn’t end with Colin. Lynch is a fraud. Hyde is a fraud. Celek, Smith, both safeties. Brooks and Staley are 110 years old in football years.
Who are the top 5 players on this team 27 or younger that you can build around?
I can’t think of any either…
I would concur. And as I stated, that reality does not end with the players on the roster. It is truly sad to hear people like their broadcast team and former players on the radio try to tap dance around the factual reality that this franchise is in disarray and decay. A sad state of affairs and then some.
You mean like how Manning won the championship last year?
How many games in his career did he win on his own, in spite of defense? You have to do that to even get the opportunity to win a title.
Several examples. The game against the Patriots in Foxborough. The games against Green Bay, both at home and there – especially the one in the subzero conditions. It’s easy to dump on a guy when he’s down.
And then the NFL figured him out. How many since?
Carr, fraud quarterback.
It doesn’t help to pick on a single miserable performance and use it to channel your well-known hatred towards Kaepernick. Carr, the Raiders quarterback that you can’t stop raving about, had a similarly abysmal performance last night in a game that truly mattered. And yes, he still hasn’t won a single playoff game unlike the quarterback you love to hate.
Kap stunk vs the Jets. He’s a quitter. The more the throws, the more amateurish he looks.
