J. Sanchez shaky

The Giants needed Jonathan Sanchez to throw a shut-down inning in the first. He did not. He was wild. He gave up two runs and three hits and walked a guy and threw a wild pitch and reverted to his reputation of being a hot and cold pitcher. Now he's [...]

Test of Jonathan Sanchez

They pushed tonight's Giants/Phillies game back to prime time, the Yankees being eliminated and all that. So it's Jonathan Sanchez vs. Roy Oswalt in front of the nation.  Oswalt won the first time. I don't believe he will be affected by his relief appearance, which wasn't so hot by the [...]

Sanchez settles down

Jonathan Sanchez settled down. He got out the Phillies in the second on seven pitches. And it took him 15 pitches in the third. He allowed a screaming double to Ryan Howard but K'd Jayson Werth to end the 3rd. Still 1-0 Phils.

Jonathan Sanchez nightmare

Jonathan Sanchez had to get Strike One. He had to throw strikes and keep down his pitch count. That was the formula to beat the Phillies in Game 2. Well, he ended up throwing 35 pitches in the first inning. He walked in a run. He walked three and struck [...]

Sanchez out

Apologize to Jonathan Sanchez?

Apologize to Jonathan Sanchez -- who me? Some Zohn readers insist I apologize to Sanchez. What for? I didn't question his character or his status as a human being. I didn't say he's a bad person. I didn't accuse him of a crime. None of that. I said he's a [...]

Jonathan Sanchez: Stand and deliver

Jonathan Sanchez faces the Padres Friday night after he shot his mouth off about them last Sunday. He's in a put up or shut up situation. So he needs to come through. Can he? To read my Friday column on this subject click here. And when I say click here [...]

Jonathan Sanchez redux

Jonathan Sanchez is an up and down pitcher. Sometimes he's terrific and sometimes he isn't. Just before the trading deadline I wrote Brian Sabean should trade him for a hitter. Sabean didn't. Sanchez was very good in his previous start. He wasn't today. He lasted 4 innings, threw a whopping [...]

Giants should have traded J. Sanchez

The Giants should have traded Jonathan Sanchez for a big bat. They did not trade Sanchez for a big bat. To read my column on the non-trading of Sanchez click here.
