What LeBron James said — was it nasty?

This is the controversial statement LeBron James made after the Heat got beat by the Mavs: “All the people that was rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today. They have the same personal problems they had today. I’m going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I… Read More »

The difference between Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James — it’s all in a name

I wrote my Tuesday column about the rise of Dirk Nowitzki and the fall of LeBron James — and  believe me LeBron James had quite a fall in the finals against the Dallas Mavericks. He could not deliver. When a guy makes an entrance like that — a TV special and all — he better deliver or he becomes a joke. LeBron James is on the verge of being a joke. Dirk Nowitzki took over the series and displayed he… Read More »

Mavericks win

I’m sitting here at the Giants game but I’ve been cheating and watching the Mavs beat the Heat on a pressbox TV. Good for Dallas. I began rooting for them — rare for me to root — after Wade and James made fun of Nowitzki’s flu. They pretended to have coughs. It was so juvenile and disrespectful. One more thing. Everyone was talking about James — how he didn’t take over the series, how he’s not yet as good as… Read More »

LeBron James speaks before Warriors game

Here are selected pregame quotes from Heat coach Erik Spoelstra and LeBron James. I’ll be back at you later. Erik Spoelstra: It was everything coming down on us at once, not having success, all the media all the speculation, everything what we learned was we weren’t going to blame each other or point fingers. The only people we could really count on was ourselves and we were going to try to figure this out together. When you get through those… Read More »

Is LeBron J a coward?

Maybe by now you’ve seen the open letter to the Cleveland Cavs fans by majority owner Dan Gilbert. In the letter Gilbert blasts LeBron James who will leave the Cavs to play for Miami. Among other things Gilbert called James’ move to the Heat “a cowardly betrayal.” He referred to James as “our former hero,” and called him a deserter. He also called him “heartless and callous.” Hey, James’ TV show was over the top but so is this letter.… Read More »

LeBron James and the 3rd person

After LeBron James did that “Decision” TV show extravaganza, someone burned one of his jerseys on one of Cleveland’s streets. I read that James responded thus: “I can’t get involved in that. I wanted to do what was best for LeBron James.” That makes James the one millionth athlete to refer to himself in the third person. Readers, please don’t refer to yourselves in the third person. Me or I are perfectly fine. When James and other egomaniac knuckleheads do… Read More »

LeBron James’ ego is huge

Stop the presses. Oh, that’s not enough. Stop the world. On Thursday night, LeBron James is having a TV show to announce which team he will play for next season. He is buying an hour’s time on ESPN to make this monumental announcement. And the world waits. All power to James for becoming a giant superstar who can toy with whole franchises, although it would help if he were to win an NBA title. But I have a problem with… Read More »
