Just about everyone is ceding the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals. The reasoning goes like this: No team can recover from a devastating loss like last night. And it was devastating. Giants make big statement in Game 1 of World Series

The Giants made a gigantic statement tonight in Game 1 of the World Series. They came in with a reputation as weak hitters and they out-hit the hot-hitting Texas Rangers. They also out-pitched and out-played them. This is only one game, of course, but the Giants made a statement by winning the first game and putting Texas on the defensive.
