The 49ers just sent out a press release. Trent Baalke is their new GM.

So, all the reports all along now seem true — Jed York wanted Baalke the entire time. The widespread search Jed was going to make for a GM involved walking down the hall and putting his hand on Baalke’s shoulder. The whole process seems to me like a put-up job. I’m writing my Wednesday column as fast as I can on this new and disturbing development. I’ll post it as soon as possible.
