I am sitting here writing a column on Chris Mullin who gets inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday. I interviewed him with two other writers the other day. One of us asked if Don Nelson will be at the ceremony. Mullin said he doesn’t know.

They have a complicated relationship. Nelson was a good coach to Mullin the player. I’m not so sure Nelson was 100 percent on Mullin’s side when he coached for Mullin the general manager. I could be wrong.

There seems to be some strain in their relationship, although Mullin is too much of a gentleman to say that.
