I’ll get to the sports hook for this post in a moment. First, I have to say I am confused about two expressions in English.

1) I couldn’t care less.

2) I could care less.

I hear these all the time and it seems to me they are used interchangeably to indicate the speaker doesn’t care. “I couldn’t care less about Joe,” or alternately, “I could care less about Joe.”

Even though these expressions mean different things they are used the same way. Can someone please help me understand the difference, especially what people mean when they say “I could care less?”

It seems to me when you say I could care less it means you care even less than a person who says I couldn’t care less. Am I wrong about that?

Anyway, tonight LeBron James has his extravaganza to announce his new team. I do care which team he will play for, but I don’t care to watch his Me Me Me TV show. I guess you could say I couldn’t care less about the show. Or do I mean I could care less?
