Today I covered Cal’s football opener against Davis. Mismatch. Cal murdered the Aggies. But you expected that. I went to the game trying to get a read on the Bears this season — not easy to do against this level of competition — and to see quarterback Kevin Riley, not bad, and to see how the team functions overall. I wasn’t thinking of wide receiver Keenan Allen. I just wasn’t.
