I’m reading comments from Zohnists and some are grumbling re: Joe Lacob. Readers are unhappy he still has Rowell, Fitz, Riley and point out the only move he made was to dump Nelson.

Well, hold on. Getting rid of Nelson was big. The Warriors roster also has changed and with that the teams’ personality — no more small ball, no more no-defense silliness.

I spoke to Lacob on the phone yesterday — the first time we ever had talked. He wanted to know how I got his cell number. I told him I’m a reporter. He seemed kind of overwhelmed by all that’s going on.

So remember this. He doesn’t even own the team yet. He’s moving as fast as he can given the circumstances. I think it’s fair to give him the benefit of the doubt for at least a while. Don’t you?

I still would like to walk the Stanford quad with him. He told me to phone him back in 3 weeks. “I’m focused on the sale right now,” he told me.

I can wait.
