Apologize to Jonathan Sanchez — who me?

Some Zohn readers insist I apologize to Sanchez. What for? I didn’t question his character or his status as a human being. I didn’t say he’s a bad person. I didn’t accuse him of a crime. None of that.

I said he’s a career 4th starter and, at the trading deadline, I advised Brian Sabean to trade him for a power hitter. To Sabean’s credit, he was able to pick up hitters on the cheap and he didn’t have to trade Sanchez. Sanchez has done well lately.

I admit that. But I still think he’s a No. 4. He can be very good one day and very bad the next. So I lack trust in him — I lack more trust in Barry Zito.

Let’s see how Sanchez does in the playoffs under the bright lights. Are you sure he’ll keep it together?
