I don’t yet know what the Giants starting lineup is today (Saturday). I hope Pablo Sandoval is not in it. I hope Juan Uribe is playing third and Edgar Renteria is at shortstop.

I think Sandoval is going downhill. I think what he did and did not do this season has hurt his career with the Giants. We always knew he was a mediocre fielder. But he’s declined. On Thursday night he failed to step on the bag at third. Bad play. After that he made his usual throwing error to first base. The Giants cannot have such a poor fielding third sacker.

If he could hit, it might make a difference, but he doesn’t hit so much anymore. He can’t bat righty. He can’t bat on the road. He’s reduced to battting lefty at home. Whatever happened to the lovable Panda?
