Call me kooky but I just love this interaction one reporter had with Tim Lincecum in the obligatory pregame press conference earlier today.

Q: This is obviously deeper into a season than you’ve ever pitched. How difficult is it to, or is it difficult to maintain your standards when you’re pitching I guess in November at this stage?

A: What standards are you talking about?

Ooh, Timmy wasn’t being helpful. He was being kind of challenging. Or did he really not know the questioner meant pitching standards? Maybe Timmy thought he meant standards in movie ratings or standards of 2008 Russian River pinot noirs or standards for his art collection. Hmm.

When asked the same question a few minutes earlier, Cliff Lee understood perfectly and went on for two paragraphs.
