We are witnessing yet another Alex Smith controversy. There have been so many. He has suffered so much. So many people have been cruel to him. The heart aches.

The latest has to do with coach Mike Singletary. Singletary questioned Smith’s leadership and now Smith has fired back saying he’s a good leader.

At the Zohn we respond with two words: Who cares?

It no longer matters if Alex Smith’s feelings are hurt or if he thinks he’s a good leader. As a starter his record was 1-6. When you have a record of 1-6 you are doing a bad job and if your coach questions your leadership, just live with it. No one really cares what you have to say anymore.

Oh, it’s more than that. Alex Smith is so done. He is David Carr. He isn’t the answer for the Niners. He isn’t even the question. Singletary would be nuts if he did not question Smith’s leadership or look for a new quarterback in Troy Smith or anyone else. Singletary isn’t being rude to Alex Smith. He’s doing what a head coach should do.

So please don’t make a case for Alex Smith or claim Singletary has bad manners. It doesn’t matter what Alex Smith thinks or feels. He can’t win enough games. Case closed.
