During the Warriors media luncheon on Monday at the Epic Roasthouse in San Francisco new head guy Joe Lacob waxed enthusiastic about owning the team. He waved his hand in the direction of the Bay and said the Warriors play in the greatest city in the nation. I took him to mean San Francisco, which is a great city.

I raised my hand and expressed my enthusiasm for San Francisco. I said, however, the Warriors play in Oakland, a nice city but not the best in America — I live in Oakland. I said Lacob had confused me.

He said he meant the whole Bay Area when he said city. He was backtracking. Then he got to the point. He said the Warriors have 7 years left on their Coliseum lease. After that he will explore his options. He might stay in Oakland or he might move to SF. He was keeping his options open as any good businessman should. I just wanted you to know about that subplot to the whole new Warriors deal.
