The Vikings fired Brad Childress. He had a 3-7 record. The Niners have not fired Mike Singletary. He has a 3-7 record. Should the Niners fire their 3-7 coach now or wait until the season ends?

Well, clearly Singletary deserves to get fired now. At 3-7 he can’t make a case he’s a good coach or a competent game manager. The Vikings have aspirations and pride and can’t abide a losing coach. So they fired their guy. The Niners used to have aspirations but it’s debatable if they have pride. And they haven’t fired their guy.

Even so, they should wait before they fire Singletary. Who can they get that’s better from their organization, unless Jed wants to take over? He may be as good as Singletary. He also may be as bad. Otherwise, there’s nobody.

It’s too bad there’s nobody because the Niners are still in it, but Singletary doesn’t know how to lead them. And anyway, they don’t have a quarterback. My feeling is they should stay with the bad coach they have as opposed to elevating another bad coach in the interim.
