Mike Singletary just finished his Tuesday presser. No fireworks. He was subdued, earnest. Tried hard to answer all questions. He is likable in that mode.

I am about to write my Wednesday column on him. I notice he makes changes when he’s in crisis. Hardly used Brian Westbrook before last night and only did it because he had no other choice. He’s mostly that way. Doesn’t change until he has to. I think Westbrook had things to offer before last night. That’s just me.

Hope you can watch me tonight on Comcast. I wore my nice clothes down here to Santa Clara because I won’t have time to drive home. One writer thought I came here directly from a funeral. That’s what nice clothes on a sportswriter will do.
