I don’t believe Jim Harbaugh will remain at Stanford. I have no inside info on this — it’s not like Harbaugh got me on the phone and spilled his gut to me. I just think he’s leaving and here’s why.

He never can do better at Stanford than he did this year. Everything would be downhill from here. Unless he is content to remain at Stanford for life, he would have to see remaining there as a decline. In other words, I don’t believe he wants to be Jeff Tedford.

I see him as super ambitious. This is what makes him a great college coach. A man like that will want to test himself on the biggest stage.

Although Stanford said it put more money on the table for Harbaugh I don’t think it can match Michigan or an NFL team. I imagine Harbaugh wants to earn more dough than Stanford can pay. I certainly don’t blame him for that.
