It’s 6:40 pm on Thursday and it’s all quiet on the Harbaugh front. What does it mean?

Some theories:

Harbaugh and the Dolphins are a done deal but they have to wait until Miami fires Sparano and finds a phony way to comply with the Rooney Rule. And then the Dolphins and Harbaugh can hold a press conference.

Harbaugh and the Dolphins are not a done deal because something about the deal didn’t work out. And it either will be a done deal or it’s over and done with.

Harbaugh wants to go to the Niners and is waiting to see if they can come up with an enticing offer.

Stanford is upping the ante and, now that Andrew Luck is staying at Stanford, Harbaugh is having second thoughts about leaving the Farm.

None of the above,

A note on Stanford: I would hate to think Stanford is competing with NFL teams in terms of money for a football coach. Stanford is a great university with or without Jim Harbaugh. I love Stanford. Stanford is not a football team surrounded by Palo Alto. Stanford should not shell out so much for a football coach. The whole thing, if Stanford is competing with the Niners etc., is obscene and contrary to what Stanford is or ought to be.
