First of all, the Hue Jackson presser was not the Hue Jackson presser. It was the Al Davis presser. Jackson’s presentation as new Raiders coach was strictly second banana to Davis stealing the spotlight.

Here are a few quotes and then I have to write my column.

Jackson: “We’re chasing greatness.”

Jackson refers to Davis as Coach Davis.

That’s pretty much all you need to hear from Jackson.

Davis, at one point, did a fabulous character assassination on Tom Cable. “I just didn’t think he could do it. Otherwise he’d be here.”

Davis said the Raiders could have made the playoffs but Cable loused it up.

Frankly, I agree. Cable is a crummy head coach.

Back to Davis. He explained he deducted the 120 grand from Cable’s paychecks because of two pending suits — one from Randy Hanson for the broken jaw and one from a woman named Lutz for roughing her up, maybe on a roadtrip, while Cable was Raiders coach. The money was a fund, I think, to pay the judgements if there were judgements vs. the Raiders and to pay lawyers fees. Davis was also ticked because Cable brought women on the road and because Cable said we’re not losers anymore.

I’m going to dive into writing my column now. I’ll explain all this in greater detail in the column. This is all very interesting.
