This will be a quickie because it’s almost midnight in the desert and Grant and I have been going since 8:00 this morning — first at the A’s and then with the Giants on the road. Grant calls it “journalism boot camp.”

But I want to say something about the NFL before I hit the sack, even though I’m in Arizona concentrating on baseball.

The players and owners already had an agreement. The owners went back on it. The owners were looking for a fight and now the players gave them one. This thing is headed for the courts and the owners will lose. They are getting what they asked for and what they deserve.
