Grant here.

I was lounging in the Cohn Zohn this morning – talking on the Cohn Phohn, reclining on the Cohn Throhn – and a comment-starter popped in my head.

The Giants have a real problem against left-handed pitchers.

Last night after the game my dad posted his impressions of the Giants. I think this one should be high on that list.

Just check out these splits from 2010. Andres Torres hit 58 points lower against lefties (.284/.226). Pablo Sandoval hit 55 points lower (.282/.227). And Pat Burrell actually hit 51 points lower (.264/.213).

Then there’s the rookie Brandon Belt, who bats left-handed, who I assume will struggle against left-handed pitching at least in his first season.

So that’s one half of the Giants lineup that’s vulnerable to lefties.

If you think I’ve forgotten Aubrey Huff, he actually hit nine points better against lefties last season. Go figure.
