When I’m filling time — like waiting for the Bonds verdict — I make lists. When I was a kid I’d list the top-10 heavyweights or middleweights or the best shortstops, etc. Today I feel like listing my favorite movies. Not the best movies. That’s another discussion. I’m going to list my top-10 favorite movies — the ones that give me the most pleasure regardless of quality. Does this list resonate with you?

1. The Wizard of Oz. This is hands down my favorite movie of all time. I love Dorothy and her ruby slippers and the scarecrow and the Tin Man, and, God, I love the cowardly lion. I even love the witch.

4. Grosse Pointe Blank

5. High Fidelity

6. Ghost Dog

7. The French Connection

8. One-Eyed Jacks

9. The Apartment

10. Here Comes Mr. Jordan

Aside from the Wizard, this list could change — the order of it and even the films I include. It’s a fluid list — I have a fluid brain. What are some of your favorites?
