Bruce Bochy just held his pregame presser for today’s game with the Braves, 1:05 start. I asked what’s wrong with Madison Bumgarner, 7.79 ERA.  Bochy said Bumgarner has trouble with one inning, usually the third, and does not know how to get out of the trouble. The point, I think, is that Bumgarner is a young guy and he will make mistakes and he has to learn how to relax and not make bad things worse. Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum had to learn similar things.

I asked Bochy if all the innings Bumgarner threw last season are having an effect on this season. Bochy said, no. He said Bumgarner’s velocity is where it should be. I still wonder about all those innings.
