I am in Manhattan, about to go out to  dinner but had to write about Joe Lacob bringing Jerry West, no less, onto the Warriors as an executive. Good for both of them.

I believe Lacob is a thorough, deliberate man who has big ambitions and will make big moves in a methodical manner. This  is a very big move. West is a wise man of basketball and the Warriors need a wise pair of eyes to look at and evaluate what’s going on there — and make bold suggestions. West will do all of this. You can bet he’ll have a lot to say on who becomes the Warriors’ next coach and on whether Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry are a good enough backcourt combo, and on what to do about Andris Biedrins.

This move shows the Warriors are serious about improving and about doing bold new things. This is just great.

Another thought: The Niners need a wise pair of eyes just like the Warriors. West gives the Warriors these wise old eyes. Who are the Niners’ wise old eyes?
