The A’s just fired Bob Geren and replaced him on an interim basis with Bob Melvin. They are in Chicago and Beane will hold a conference call at 11 a.m. This firing was long overdue. They never should have hired him — clueless with players and media. Sure, the A’s have problems that are more deep-seated than Geren — like the ownership — but he was a mistake. Compare him to Bruce Bochy. No comparison. Back at you later.
