There is some debate re: James Harrison. Should NFL commish Roger Goodell fine Harrison for his stupid remarks? Does Goodell even have the right to fine him?

Yes and yes.

Harrison, who should know better, told a magazine he would not even urinate on Goodell if he were on fire. Harrison also referred to the commish with an anti-gay slur.

Fine him.

Somehow Harrison has become a folkĀ  in all this — he speaks his mind or some such silliness. Some are saying Goodell can’t fine him because of the lockout. I say Harrison represents the NFL. There is free speech in our country, but an employer still can fine or fire over over-the-top language. Harrison went way over the top, acted like a teenager. He should pay the price and no one should defend him.

Fine him.
