I’m sitting here in the Cohn Zohn with Grant a few hours before we drive to Candlestick Park for the Raiders-Niners game. In this case, the Cohn Zohn is the dining room table where we’re both typing away like fools.

“I’ll tell you the difference between Hue Jackson and Jim Harbaugh,” I said.

“What’s that?” Grant said.

“Raiders fans look at Jackson as a good coach who will help the team continue to improve, but Niners fans look at Harbaugh as a savior.”

Grant said I was right. He reminded me he once wrote a piece for the Cohn Zohn saying lots of words 49er fans use have religious overtones.

Harbaugh is a savior.

49er fans are the Faithful.

They believe in Harbaugh.

“The fear is,” Grant said, “if fans don’t believe, don’t do their part Harbaugh will just walk away like Gary Cooper in ‘High Noon,’ and go somewhere people believe in him more.”

A savior.
